TRUSTED FENCING CONTRACTORS

Kalamunda Fencing Contractors

Bobby here. If you’re in Kalamunda or one of the neighbouring hills suburbs and need a fence or gate built or fixed, my team does the work from start to finish. The land is steeper and the ground harder than on the flat, so I come out and measure before I put a number on the job.

Fencing Contractors Joondalup

Kalamunda Colorbond Fencing & Matching Gates

Colorbond sheet fencing gives you privacy and low upkeep, in any colour from the standard range. Where the block falls away, the Colorbond runs in stepped sections that follow the ground, and the gate is finished in the same colour and profile as the fence beside it.

Pool Fencing Kalamunda

Pool fencing installations in Kalamunda are looked after by one crew, from the first measure through to checking that the gate closes and latches. The barrier has to meet the Australian standard, and the City of Kalamunda requires a building permit before a pool fence goes up.

Steel & Garrison Fencing Kalamunda

For larger blocks, rural boundaries or properties that need more security, heavy-duty steel fencing with matching gates is an option. Not sure whether solid Colorbond or open steel suits your block? Read Colorbond vs Garrison fencing in Perth.

Fencing & Gate Installers: Gates, Slat Fencing & Repairs

Gates are a big part of what we do: single, double or sliding, plus aluminium slat screens. After a storm we’ll look at the damage and tell you straight whether it’s worth repairing or time to replace. We also build retaining walls, and remove old asbestos-cement fencing and replace it with Colorbond or slat.

Fencing in Kalamunda: Local Conditions

Kalamunda sits up in the Perth hills, and fences here deal with steep blocks, rocky or clay ground and long boundaries on bigger lots. A footing that works on a flat suburban block won’t always work here, so I check what’s under your block before I quote.

You may still hear the council called the Kalamunda Shire, but today it’s the City of Kalamunda. A fence in your front setback can go up to 1.2 m without approval. A building permit is needed for non-masonry fences over 1.8 m, masonry fences over 750 mm and retaining walls of 500 mm or more. Some hills properties back onto bushland, so look up your address on the DFES bushfire-prone areas map first. Permit details are on the City’s building page.

We work across the 6076 hills suburbs, including Lesmurdie, Gooseberry Hill and Walliston, as well as nearby Maida Vale, Forrestfield, High Wycombe and Maddington.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Kalamunda Fencing FAQs

It depends on what you’re building. The City of Kalamunda lets a front fence up to 1.2 m go ahead without approval. Building permits are needed for non-masonry fences over 1.8 m, masonry fences over 750 mm, retaining walls of 500 mm or more, and any pool fence. Two things outside the City’s rules can limit your design as well: conditions attached to your property title, and bushfire-prone mapping from DFES. Look both up before you pick a style. The City’s front fencing policy covers the front-fence detail, and the DFES map shows whether your address is mapped.

A pool or spa holding water deeper than 300 mm needs a barrier that meets AS 1926.1, and the City requires a building permit to erect a pool fence. Pools in Kalamunda are registered with the City, and its inspectors check barriers on a four-year cycle, so the fence has to stay compliant long after it’s installed. See the City’s swimming pool page and our guide to pool fence regulations in WA.

It depends on what you need. Colorbond sheets give you privacy and a solid look. Garrison is open, heavy-duty steel that suits security and larger rural-style boundaries. With bushland close by in many parts of Kalamunda, note that both fence types are made of steel, which doesn’t burn. That doesn’t make any fence fireproof. Our Colorbond vs Garrison comparison goes through the trade-offs.

The Dividing Fences Act starts from an equal split for a sufficient fence, but a written deal with your neighbour overrides it. Raise it with them early, and don’t take down an existing fence without their consent. For the step-by-step process, see our Dividing Fences Act guide or the government’s dividing fence guide.

On a steep block the Colorbond runs in stepped sections that follow the ground, and each post is set to suit what’s underneath, whether soil, clay or rock. If the slope needs holding back, we can build the retaining wall as well, and we’ll tell you at the visit whether it needs a permit.

Yes. We install Colorbond gates matched to the fence colour and profile, plus slat gates and sliding gates for wider openings. Tell us the opening width at the visit and the quote covers fence and gate together.

Check what the quote actually says: the fence height, the colour, the gates, and what happens to the old fence. Find out whether the person who visited your site will be on the job, and read the warranty wording closely. Ours covers materials and workmanship for one year. Photos of work on sloping blocks are worth asking for too, since hills jobs are harder than flat ones.
